KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Kingsport Aquatic Center kicked off its Drool Party on Wednesday, the first of a new five-day format that will better facilitate dogs of all sizes and pet owners' schedules.

The party features an open outdoor shallow pool area for dogs to splash in. Wednesday evening marked the first of five Drool Party nights, with big dogs over 25 pounds having the first chance to splash.

The aquatic center's Program Coordinator, Madison Gump, said this year marks the twelfth year of the party.

"We're just giving them another choice," she said. "Another option to spend the evening with their dogs. A lot of dogs like to swim either at the lake or in pools. And that is what we're doing here tonight, is just bringing the community together, providing an option for their dog
