SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Tis’ the season for storms and we have one brewing in the Atlantic. A tropical disturbance will be moving into an area that is conducive for storm development in the next few days.

The NHC has bumped up the chance for development to 80% for a tropical depression, or a named storm to develop by Saturday. The disturbance is moving to the WNW at 5-10 mph at this time.

Given the fact that we have seen a trough of low pressure over the eastern 3rd. of the U.S. it is likely that this system if it were to develop would track to the NW and then to the N as it gets close to the Bahamas.

It is too early to say with any certainty at this time due the fact that the low pressure center hasn’t even formed as of yet. We will continue to watch it however and keep you updated rig
