GREENSBORO, N.C. — A proposed apartment complex by The Alexander Company could range from just over $700 to more than $2,000 a month, making them mixed-income housing.
At Wednesday night's Greensboro Redevelopment Commission meeting, people spoke both for and against the downtown project.
Right now, the corner of South Elm and West Gate City Boulevard is nothing more than a gravel parking lot. The Alexander Company wants to change that with 128 apartments, with the goal of bringing a grocery store downtown.
"They [grocery store chains] want to see things on a positive trend and a density achieved before they come in," said David Vos, development manager for The Alexander Company.
Vos said the company has contacted at least a dozen grocery chains, but most showed little interest. He b
