We have all seen the check engine light, but what does it actually mean? In 1995, the government passed a law that required all vehicles sold in the USA to have a Standard On Board Diagnostic System. They have to have the same plug in shape and the same software communication. This allows for one tool to be able to communicate with all makes and models sold in the United States. The law states that the light must come on and set a code if the performance or efficiency falls below tolerance. Basically, if your vehicle produces too much pollution
