SAC CITY, Iowa — Before the year is up, Sac County will have had at least three sheriffs in 2025.
Jonathan Meyer's resignation as sheriff took effect Tuesday, a little more than a month after Meyer succeeded Sheriff Ken McClure who retired in June after more than 20 years in office.
"This decision arises from personal reasons that require my focused attention," Meyer said in a resignation letter to the Sac County Board of Supervisors that was provided to The Journal by the Sac County Attorney's office. "Taking responsibility for my actions, I recognize that my leadership role has come with significant challenges."
