MAYFLOWER -- Jeremy Brown, the Deer Management Program Coordinator for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, is "synergizing" DMAP into an industry leader.

"I don't know if 'synergization' is a word, but it is in DMAP," Brown said.

The Deer Management Assistance Program encourages and helps private landowners to maximize deer herd potential on their properties. Nearly every state has a DMAP, but some exist in name only. The AGFC uses it to advance a multi-prong strategy to obtain data from deer on privately-owned properties, to improve habitat on individual properties, to encourage deer harvest on individual properties, and to improve the physical health of deer and their habitat on individual properties. Brown calls it an ongoing PHD program.
