One Chattanooga restaurant came close to a failing health inspection score this week after inspectors found flies and cockroaches, food left uncovered overnight, and grime buildup in the kitchen.
The Sushi City on Lee Highway scored a 70.
The health inspection says flies and cockroaches were found in the kitchen and chemical room areas. Dirt and grime were also found on the dishwasher.
The inspector located 20 pounds of sushi rice leftover from the day before, which had to be thrown out due to mislabeling. Other prepped and cooked foods were not labeled correctly to be held in the fridge.
The inspection notes that food and dry ingredients were left out and uncovered overnight, and the reach-in cooler did not have a thermometer.
