Seeing stink bugs or boxelders in your home in the Chicago area? You're not alone.

According to experts, the fall season is likely to bring an influx of the bugs, and other animals, into homes as they seek shelter for the winter.

But are they harmful? What should you do to avoid the stinky stench?

When are bugs likely to enter Chicago area homes?

According to experts, the bugs are already on the rise.

"They've been out for sure," Tom Loch, district manager for Terminix Anderson, told NBC Chicago.

Where you'll see them most, however, could change with the weather and seasons.

"As we get into the early fall and into the early winter stage, [boxelders] typically go on the side of the homes where the sun is normally because they like that heat," Loch said
