JENNINGS — A teenager was charged with murder after police say he fired shots into a car in Jennings, fatally hitting an occupant and nearly missing an infant.

Deandre Coleman Jr., 18, is being held in the St. Louis County jail on $1.5 million cash bond.

Prosecutors charged Coleman last week, but the case was under seal until police arrested him Wednesday.

The victim was Eric Baker, 21, of the 8700 block of Trumbell Avenue in Bel-Ridge.

Baker was shot Aug. 24 while sitting in a car in the 2100 block of Fairhaven Drive in Jennings. Police were alerted by the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system, which uses microphones to pinpoint gunfire.
