A man was arrested over a string of trash fires in Gloucester, Massachusetts, on Wednesday night, officials said.

Bruce Nichols, a 37-year-old from the city, was arrested on charges of burning personal property in connection with five incidents between 9:20 p.m. and midnight, according to Gloucester's police and fire departments.

No one was hurt in the fires, which were set in large metal trash bins, on Bass Avenue, Rogers Street, Main Street and near the Harbor Loop, officials said.

Nichols was held without bail at a hearing Thursday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could speak to his arrest.
