Comox Valley Search and Rescue (CVSAR) is celebrating after finally finding itself a permanent home.

For nearly three decades, CVSAR has been renting its headquarters at 3001 Moray Ave. in Courtenay.

For roughly 10 of those years, it’s been trying to find a permanent home instead of renting, and launched its “Roofs for Rescuers fundraising campaign” with that goal in mind.

On Thursday, the volunteer search and rescue team said the solution had finally arrived, and that it had purchased the property that it’s already based in.

“We’re proud to say that, thanks to our community, we now have a permanent home. It may be a fixer-upper, but it’s ours,” said Gord Thompson, president of CVSAR in a statement.
