A new partnership announced today could make residential renewable energy more affordable in Fort Wayne.

Midwest America Federal Credit Union and Urban Beginnings Choice Federal Credit Union are partnering with the Indiana Energy Independence Fund to create Smart-E, clean energy financing that allows credit unions to offer low-interest loans to homeowners for energy projects, including solar panel installations, heat pumps and weatherization.

Fort Wayne is the first community the Indiana Energy Independence Fund is launching this program in. Mayor Sharon Tucker said she’s proud that the city’s clean energy initiatives are getting recognition.
