GRANT COUNTY, Wash. -- The Grant County Health District says mosquitos captured during routine testing were positive for West Nile Virus.

GCHD says the mosquitos were collected near Crab Creek north of Moses Lake on August 24. The Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory confirmed West Nile Virus on September 3.

The district says more mosquitoes could be carrying the virus in the area.

Grant County is the third county in Washington to report West Nile along with Benton and Yakima.

No humans have been infected with West Nile in Washington this year, but Idaho and Montana have both reported cases in humans. A person in Twin Falls, Idaho died from West Nile in August.
