TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Drexel Heights Fire District (DHFD) responded to a homeless encampment fire on the southwest side of Tucson.

DHFD said on Thursday morning, the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) and DHFD crews responded to multiple reports of a fire and heavy black smoke near Drexel Road and Westover Avenue. Close

Crews respond to homeless encampment fire on Tucson's southwest side

When crews arrived, they found a homeless encampment fire that was quickly contained after firefighters deployed handlines. DHFD said the fire was at the same location of a previous incident that happened in May.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

DHFD said a Verizon crew was also called to the scene to evaluate equipment in the area.
