CHESTNUT HILL – Members of the Power-4 conferences pay close attention to how their programs perform against ranked affiliates from the other elite leagues.

Bells were ringing across the ACC landscape last Saturday when unranked Florida State issued a 31-17 beatdown on No. 8 Alabama while No. 10 Miami defeated No. 6 Notre Dame, 27-24.

It didn’t matter that the ACC’s flagship program, No. 4 Clemson, was beaten 17-10 by No. 9 LSU in Death Valley. Out of conference wins against the Crimson Tide (SEC) and the unaffiliated Fighting Irish carried the day for the ACC.
