Armed suspect shot, killed by police officers in Prescott

PRESCOTT, AZ (AZFamily) — One person is dead following a shooting involving police officers in Prescott on Wednesday night.

Around 7:30 p.m., two officers responded to a home on Eagle Ridge Road to check the welfare of a person who reportedly made suicidal statements earlier that evening. When they arrived, an officer called someone inside the home on the phone and asked the person to come outside to speak with them.

Prescott police say the person came outside and brandished a firearm, which is when the officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided aid until paramedics arrived, but police say the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Other details were not immediately available, but no officers were injured. The person’s name has not yet been released.
