RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is facing charges in connection with a rape that police say happened on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus.

EKU Police say 21-year-old Logan Akers was arrested on two counts of first-degree rape on Wednesday.

According to his arrest citation, Akers admitted to police that he forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with a woman inside an EKU dorm room two times in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 30.

In a statement, EKU said, "We cannot comment on an active and ongoing investigation. Eastern Kentucky University investigates all reported crimes. The safety of our campus community is our top priority."

EKU officials have not confirmed if Akers is currently enrolled at the university.
