SOUTHPORT, N.Y. (WETM) — In a legal battle that has dragged on for years, Chamberlain Acres Garden Center and Florist and the Town of Southport are set to go to a jury trial after settlement negotiations were unsuccessful on Thursday.

Charlie Todd and Glenn Miller, owners of Chamberlain Acres in Southport, were at the Chemung County Courthouse on Thursday with attorneys to meet with Town of Southport Supervisor Joe Roman and board member Dan Williams and their attorneys to negotiate a possible settlement and avoid going to trial over a discrimination lawsuit the couple filed in 2022.

The two groups were unable to agree on terms. Now the lawsuit will head to trial in Chemung County on Dec. 8, where Todd hopes it can help make up for nearly six years of lost revenue.
