Two days after a federal judge ruled the Trump administration violated federal law in the use of National Guard troops during immigration enforcement operations in Los Angeles, Governor Gavin Newsom said Thursday the activation of the National Guard members as well as Marines cost taxpayers about $118 million.
Among the $118 million, most of the money, $71 million, went toward feeding the troops and providing basic necessities. While $37 million went toward payroll, $4 million was spent in logistics supplies while travel cost $3.5 million. The demobilization also added $1.5 million to the total sum.
