BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Since the beginning of his tenure, Bismarck Mayor Mike Schmitz has strived to simplify and streamline city government departments to better serve the community.
One of these changes is to begin placing signs on properties and boulevards before a public hearing for a development project. Signs will include basic information about the project, public meeting and contact information.
Other streamlining efforts have been made by embracing technology, like artificial intelligence. It is being used across more than a dozen city departments.
Improvements include better public access to the Fire Department through an updated website, more efficient garbage pickup, street cleaning and snowplowing services, and an expanded public health food pantry, among others.
