Wildfire smoke has drifted into portions of Arkansas and is already showing up on traffic cameras in northwest Arkansas. Benton County is observing hazy skies Thursday evening as smoke from wildfires in British Columbia moved south into the central United States.
This smoke is mostly in the upper atmosphere, creating a milky or washed-out look to the sky. It may also lead to colorful sunrises and sunsets.
The haze is expected to linger through much of Friday before a cold front arrives Saturday. This front should help clear the skies and improve conditions across the state.
