SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Fire Department was among the people recognized for helping save an infant's life earlier this week.
The fire department was dispatched on August 10 in regard to an infant who was unconscious and born prematurely. They first arrived on the scene before paramedics.
"A child was prematurely delivered at just 26 weeks gestation," Fire Chief Patrick Brody said. "The baby was not breathing and still contained within the amniotic sack. Well, they immediately began life-saving procedures, CPR and supplemental oxygen. Medic six arrived on scene, and they immediately transported to the emergency room and transferred care over to the emergency staff."
After being transferred to the hospital, the infant was resuscitated and was in stable
