LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The Clark County School District Police Department arrested a teacher on charges related to an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Cole Horton, 30, faces charges of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a pupil 16 or older and contacting or attempting to contact a minor by a person of authority for sex.
Police booked Horton into the Clark County Detention Center, where he was held on a $15,000 bail. His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 6.
Police said the victim was a student during the 2024 to 2025 school year, and the investigation was initiated at Basic Academy.
Horton has been employed by CCSD since November 2019 as a band teacher. He was placed on paid leave during the investigation.
