BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A disabled Bakersfield police officer was honored for his service in a very tangible way on Thursday, receiving the keys to a mortgage-free, fully refurbished home designed specifically to accommodate his disability.
Jason White, an eight-year Navy veteran and 17-year Bakersfield police veteran who survived a stroke, is the man of honor.
White suffered four strokes around three years ago.
"Tunnel to Towers," a national nonprofit organization, purchased and renovated a southwest Bakersfield home to meet his medical needs, all for free.
