LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A family is left without a home after a fire broke out in east Webb County, in the Pueblo Nuevo area near Hwy 359.

The family woke up to the smell of smoke inside their home on Thursday morning, September 4. Now, their home stands in the ashes of 17 years’ worth of memories.

Although no one was injured in the fire, the loss of a home is tragic. Maria Juarez, a neighbor and witness to the incident, told KGNS that the wind began to push the flames toward her house, causing some damage as well.

“Thank god the firefighters showed up when they did, the wind started pushing the flames towards our house,” Juarez stated.

County fire officials have stated that the investigation is still ongoing, but they can confirm that the fire originated from the bedroom of the home. Ho
