A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 10:43 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 11:30 p.m. for Orange County.
Residents can expect wind gusts of up to 30 mph.
"At 10:42 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Florida, or near Goshen, moving northeast at 35 mph," adds the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Locations impacted by the alert include Middletown, Walden, Goshen, Gardnertown, Chester, Montgomery, Florida, Scotchtown, Orange Lake, Mechanicstown, Washingtonville, Balmville, Westtown, Maybrook and Slate Hill.
