LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) - In this week's episode of Acadiana Crimestoppers, Youngsville Police Chief Jean Paul Broussard dicussed how he is trying trying to build the force, both in terms of manpower and its commitment to the community.
Broussard is hopeful policing in Youngsville, is moving in the right direction and shared how his first priority upon taking office late in 2024 was fighting for a raise for his officers.
"With help from the city council and mayor we're able to raise the starting pay for officers from 42 to 45 thousand." Broussard said. "Make sure these officers are well taken care of because they're the ones that take care of us day in and day out, they're the ones on the street."
By making these changes, Broussard said it provided aid to recruitment by leaving seven open
