TOWANDA, PA (WENY) -- The Bradford County Courthouse on Main Street in Towanda will be lit purple for the month of September.

That's because September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. It's a month to remember the lives lost to suicide, bring attention to mental health issues, and promote hope.

The color purple is meant to represent empathy and support for those lost to suicide, and for the survivors.

The county says by raising awareness, it hopes to reduce the stigma and provide support.

People suffering with thoughts of suicide are encouraged to call the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, 24 hours a day.
