Thursday night update: Expect a generally quiet and mild night. While a stray shower could drift into the northern half of the area from a weather system up in North Carolina, the vast majority of us will stay dry. We'll see mostly clear skies, and temperatures will dip into the mid-60s.

Get ready for Second Summer! A southwesterly flow will pump both heat and moisture into our area. Highs on both Friday and Saturday are expected to climb into the low to mid-90s. With the rising humidity, the heat index will make it feel even hotter during the peak of the afternoon. Stay hydrated!

We can't rule out spotty afternoon and evening showers and storms. However, a layer of stable air higher up in the atmosphere is expected to act like a "cap," preventing most afternoon storms from developing. S
