SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (13 News) - Sierra Vista is planning for the future of its airport , which includes a spaceport.

Whether it’s expanding the airport itself or adding one of the very few spaceports in the country, the plan is expected to set Sierra Vista up for success and put it on the map.

The plan is essentially the city looking ahead, 10-20 years down the line, and forecasting just how many and what kind of aircraft it can expect to see, and then what kind of infrastructure it will need to support them.

“We expect the mix of the aircraft community to change over the next 20 years,” said Sharon Flissar, public works director with the city of Sierra Vista.
