Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has amended an executive order issued on Oct. 14, 2024, in order to provide increased funding totaling $377,093.57 from the Governor's Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to help cover costs linked to severe storms and flooding in January 2024.
The funds will be used at the discretion of the director of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management to defray both program and administrative costs under the amended executive order that the Republican governor signed on Tuesday.
On Jan. 22, 2024, severe storms and flooding started in Arkansas and continued with such severity that executive action was warranted to alleviate hardship and suffering, according to the governor's executive order.
