District Attorney Jeff Laugero announced that Judge Mangar sentenced Matthew Dessert, a former deputy with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office, to 9 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually abusing his daughter over the course of eight years.

In addition to his prison sentence, Dessert is subject to a 10-year parole term and is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to the DA.
