NAUVOO, Ill. (WGEM) - Fundraising efforts are bringing nine disc golf holes to Nauvoo State Park, but organizers say they don’t want to stop there.
Parts for the new attraction shipped earlier this week. The city’s tourism director hopes the course will be ready for play within the next month.
The city is looking to raise another $4,000 to finish the rest of the course sometime next year.
“We figured the first nine is a good start. It at least gets us through the state approval process so that we’ll have that part of it done, and it gives people something to play on, to know how much fun it’s going to be to have the full course here in the park,” said Nauvoo Tourism Director Rebecca Williamson.
Williamson noted the course will be free to play.
