ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) -- A Robeson County woman was killed early Friday morning when her pickup truck ran off the road and hit a tree, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Faith Louise Hammonds of Fairmont was driving a 2000 Dodge Ram south on Mill Branch Road near Highway 41 when the truck crossed the centerline, went off the left side of the road and hit the tree, troopers said. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck in the crash.

Troopers said speed was a factor in the crash, which happened shortly before 5 a.m. Hammonds was pronounced dead at the scene by Robeson County EMS.
