Only three weeks separated the launch of Ralph Lauren’s Oak Bluffs collection and the Starz premiere of the five-part docuseries Magic City: An American Fantasy. One touts patchwork jackets and cream crewnecks printed with “Spelman College”; the other, blue backdropped portraits of Tupac, confessions from the likes of Shaq and Drake, and Gigi Maguire (“Ms. Show Me the Money”) in a glittered blazer calculating the budget behind being a dancer.
