High street beauty chain Bodycare has revealed plans to close 32 of its shops across the UK. The closures are also expected to make around 450 of the chain's roughly, 1,500-strong workforce redundant.

The news comes after the company fell into administrations after facing a number of challenges in recent years including rising costs and the cost-of-living crisis impacting customer interest.

The chain, which was initially founded on a market stall in Lancashire in 1970, said it also faced a delayed transition from its online retail platform, impacting its financial position.

Bodycare added it had faced a shortfall in funding after aborting a planned stock market listing last year, impacting both supplier relationships and stock levels.
