The "original screen-matched, hero dueling lightsaber prop" was used on-screen in "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." The lightsaber, known for its ominous red glow, appeared in some of the saga's most famous scenes, including Vader's "I am your father" reveal to Luke Skywalker.
The lightsaber was used by both Darth Vader actor David Prowse and stunt actor Bob Anderson during the shooting of the second and third "Star Wars" movies.
