PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The United States Department of Health and Human Services has reached a settlement with a Washington state nonprofit after being accused of unlawfully deleting public health data from federal websites.
The lawsuit was filed in May by nine health care organizations led by the Washington State Medical Association, a nonprofit representing more than 13,000 physicians and medical students.
As part of the lawsuit, the Trump administration agreed to restore webpages and public health data on federal websites, which comes after reporting from The New York Times found that the administration deleted over 8,000 webpages across more than a dozen websites.
