BENNINGTON — “Bennington Vanguards” by Bill Morgan and Tom Fels profiles more than 70 individuals who have made the town special in its history.

In chronological order, chapters in the book range from "Native Americans" at the start to "Bennington College" at the end, with many profiles of individuals in-between. The book’s subtitle is “Patriots and Pioneers.”

Those profiled include soldiers, scholars, politicians, artists, businessmen, philanthropists and more. There’s both a man who perished heroically when the Titanic went down, and a woman who murdered her husband.

Some were born here; others arrived from elsewhere and made a mark.
