SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — At Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, Sept. 3, Bonnie Raitt and Jimmie Vaughan proved their voices remain undiminished after almost 50 years in the spotlight. Gorgeous weather contributed to a stellar evening of blues-infused rock, with clear skies and a comfortable drop in temperature after a warm day.

Health travails have kept Vaughan off the road for the past few years, so it was great to see him returned to full throttle. He launched the show with “Roll, Roll, Roll,” and “Dirtywork,” displaying his effortlessness technique. And by the time he hit the third number, “I Ain’t Never,” he’d woven a rockabilly spell, transporting us to a smoky Texas roadhouse.
