PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Northview Public Schools football game will move forward as scheduled after a threat canceled classes Friday.

The school was closed Friday after a potential threat was made by a student, it said in a letter to families and staff Thursday. In a Friday update, it said school was canceled "out of an abundance of caution" due to "too many unanswered questions."

Northview Public Schools has been working with the Kent County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office told News 8 a suspect has been identified, and the school says it has issued a no trespass order to the individual.

The threat was directed toward one staff member and not at the entire district, investigators have determined.
