The UK's Emergency Alert system is poised for a nationwide trial this weekend, with millions of devices across the country anticipated to receive an alarm.

The government's objective is to confirm that the system is operating correctly and can efficiently alert people in genuine emergencies.

This isn't a first; the system was previously put through its paces on a national level in April 2023 and has been utilised five times since during emergency situations like Storm Darragh in December 2024, which brought perilous wind gusts to parts of the UK.
