CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man was arrested and faces new charges in connection to a child hit by a vehicle in Carterville on Wednesday.

Carterville Police Department stated a female juvenile was hit by a vehicle in the 1000 block on South Division Street in Carterville at 3:16 p.m. on September 3. Police said the victim suffered multiple injuries and was initially treated by Carterville EMS before being airlifted to a hospital in the St. Louis area.

Police said the vehicle involved left the scene but the driver was later arrested. Carterville Police stated the suspected driver was identified as Joseph Uhls, 45, of Carterville.
