SAGINAW, MI — A Saginaw woman has received a probationary sentence for severely burning the hands of a child she was babysitting. While she could have gotten prison time, the presiding judge felt that was an unjust end to the case.

“To send you to prison for 18 months, I don’t think does any good,” Saginaw County Circuit Judge Andre R. Borrello told defendant Makalia M. Taylor-Spivey. “This was a terrible situation and you’re being held accountable, but the question is, ‘What’s appropriate?’”
