MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis, Light, Gas & Water (MLGW) is ahead of schedule on its three-year tree trimming plan, the utility company announced Wednesday.

Two years into the three-year project, MLGW said crews have trimmed 3,678 miles of trees. The company set out to tackle 4,182 miles of trees, putting MLGW at 88 percent of its original goal.

MLGW said those efforts have reduced power outage minutes by about 50 percent from 2023 to 2025.

If you're aware of a tree that is interfering with a power line or is in direct contact with one, MLGW said you can call their Customer Care Center at 901-544-6549 and request a trim or removal. You should never attempt to trim a tree on your own if it's near or touching power lines.
