The September night sky will be glowing this weekend as the so-called “corn moon” of 2025 turns full . But an even better sky show will be coming in October, November and December with three consecutive “supermoons” on tap.
Supermoons are moons that appear slightly bigger and brighter than average full moons because they reach their fullest phase when their orbit is closer to the Earth.
So mark these dates on your calendar: Oct. 6, Nov. 5 and Dec. 4. That’s when the back-to-back supermoons will be turning full.
When to see the September corn moon
The September moon — which sometimes carries the nickname of harvest moon, based on its timing — will be reaching its fullest phase at 2:09 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, Sept. 7.
