AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - More than a year after a plane crash killed a pilot near Daniel Field , the National Transportation Safety Board has released its final report.
The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza A36 crashed on Hillcrest Avenue at Belmount Drive while trying to return to the airport just after departing on Runway 5 at 7:12 a.m. on May 2.
The crash that killed Jason McKenzie was blamed on “the pilot’s excessive turn rate and bank angle while at low airspeed and altitude, resulting in an accelerated aerodynamic stall, loss of airplane control, and collision with terrain.”
