A major contractor for construction works preparing for the next leg of Canberra's light rail project has had a key certification suspended after failing to comply with government requirements.

Head contractor for the raising london circuit project, Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure, failed to ensure all subcontractors held valid certificates showing they met specific workplace standards agreed with building unions, resulting in the suspension of its own certification.

Under the raising London Circuit main works contract with the ACT government, Abergeldie was required to maintain a valid Secure Local Jobs Code (SLJC) certificate and ensure all subcontractors were SLJC certified at the time of engagement.
