(KRON) -- Multiple homes in Cupertino were flooded Friday after a construction crew struck a water line, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded at 9:57 a.m. to the 10000 block of Scenic Boulevard on the report of a ruptured water line. Arriving crews learned that construction workers had been excavating in the area and struck an 8-inch line carrying water.

Five homes on the block, which is just west of Blackberry Farm Golf Course, were impacted by the flooding water, fire officials said. The flooding mostly reached the garage areas.
