MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) - A Minot-native is performing on Friday and Saturday with a group that inspired his passion.

Colton Cook is stepping into his first professional opera role in his hometown.

Cook said he grew up with music and can play more than 20 instruments.

He explained he graduated from Minot High and went off to South Dakota State to play football, where he soon became involved with the choir.

That moment kick-started his career and ultimately led to his graduation from the Bard College Conservatory of Music.

Cook shared that meeting the performers from the Western Plains Opera as a high schooler kindled a dream, and now he’s living it.

“To be able to come back to my hometown and do the very same thing that started me on this path is very special,” said Cook.
